One thing all public figures seem to have in common is a desire to build a bigger audience for whatever it is they do. For politicians, it’s vital to getting into office. For bands and internet startups, it can mean turning a hobby into a career. For newspapers, it can be a matter of hanging on for another year in a shaky media landscape. Today’s show almost fits that theme…

Listen to the first hour of the show

Republican Debates:  There’s been a ton, with more to come.  Yet….the candidates continue to agree to them, and the networks continue to get good ratings.  We’ll try to find out why, and if these debates are really about making good points or getting the biggest audience reactions.

Unicycle Loves You:  The hard rockin’ hook laden sounds of Chicago band Unicycle Loves You joins us.  Their new album is called Failure and they’re about to head to SXSW for the first time.

Tech Tuesdays:  App it up.  We’ll learn about the best smartphone apps of 2012 from Jacqui Cheng of Ars Technica.

Listen to the second hour of the show

Sports:  The Ballet of Summer has begun.  OK, I’m the only one who calls it that, but I loves me some baseball.  We’ll get the first peek inside spring training.   Plus, D Rose is back (from a bad back) and put some oomph back in the Bulls performance last night.

Media Panel:  Headlines that go from cheesy to sleazy…a whole journalistic operation shuts down…plenty to talk about on the local media scene and we’ll have Chicago Magazine‘s Scott Smith and Huffington Post‘s Jen Sabella will parse it all with us.

Forrest Claypool:  The current head of the Chicago Transit Authority sits down with Steve Edwards in studio.
