By Susie AnTwo Illinois men accused of helping to plot a terror attack have been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison.
Jonas Edmonds pleaded guilty to plotting an attack on a U.S. military facility. But during his sentencing Tuesday, he placed most of the blame on his cousin, Hasan Edmonds, a former Illinois National Guard soldier. Jonas Edmonds admitted to dropping off his cousin at the airport so he could fly to the Middle East to join Islamic State fighters, but Jonas Edmonds denied he would have actually carried out a planned attack on a National Guard facility in Joliet.
Hasan Edmonds was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Jonas Edmonds entered into a plea agreement and was sentenced to 21 years in prison with another 20 years of supervision.
