Two years ago, Kim Foxx won election as Cook County State’s Attorney, promising to bring a more progressive and holistic mindset to everything from violent crime prosecution to bond reform to civil forfeiture laws.

She recently moved to vacate the convictions of eight people whose convictions were based on the misconduct of corrupt former Chicago Police Sgt. Ronald Watts.

Since Foxx has taken office, her office has vacated criminal convictions for dozens people under the Conviction Integrity Unit. She joins the Morning Shift to talk about wrongful convictions, criminal justice reform and where her work goes from here.
