The Chicago Botanic Garden joined cities around the world to celebrate World Environment Day.

To mark the event, the UN released a new study that’s kind of a guide to low carbon living. It offers practical tips on how to reduce carbon emissions at home and at work.

Amy Fraenkel, with the UN’s Environment Programme, says the report outlines steps people can take to lower the emissions that cause climate change.

FRAENKEL: The purpose of our new report is to communicate that we are all part of the solution.

The study recommends small changes. Individuals can go for a jog in the park rather than run on a treadmill. They can use a non electric toothbrush. According to the study, that saves nearly two ounces of carbon emissions everytime you brush.
