There is news today that fish in the waters near the Fukushima nuclear plant still have radiation contamination. Japanese fishermen there continue to dump most of their catch. Still, earlier this year a Japanese fast food company announced it would grow rice and vegetables about sixty miles away from the plant.That’s outside Fukushima prefecture, which was once a bastion of organic farming. Then came the 2011 earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown, and spread of radiation contamination. But even inside the contamination zone the news is not all bad. That’s according to an independent film crew from Chicago, who are making a film about Fukushima’s organic farmers. “Uncanny Terrain” is the film.
