Tyson Jackson, the executive chair for the Mississippi Student Justice Alliance and student organizer for the UAW Global Organizing Institute, is helping lead a campaign to organize the autoworkers at the giant Nissan auto plant in Canton, Mississippi. The campaign was initiated by community, students and workers and has garnered international attention. Recently, a delegation of autoworkers from South Africa visited Canton and Jackson was in turn invited to South Africa. Tyson Jackson tells us about his efforts and explains what kind of support they’re receiving from students and union workers in other parts of the world, including South Africa. Monica Atkins, chair of the Tennessee Student Justice Alliance, also joins us to discuss the global campaign for workers rights. (Photo: MS Student Justice Alliance)
