Human rights lawyers in Chicago want the records of torture cases involving former Chicago police commander Jon Burge to be made public. Burge and officers under his command tortured more than 100 African American men in the 70’s and 80’s.

Students and faculty at the University of Chicago are working to establish the Chicago Torture Archive. They’re organizing over 9,000 documents from the People’s Law Office which represented many Burge torture survivors.
