Writer Stephen Kinzer has spent years chronicling U.S. intervention in other countries. His latest book The True Flag: Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, and the Birth of American Empire, details debates that raged over the U.S. becoming an imperial power during the Spanish-American War.
