Last week, United States Special Operations commandos assisted Yemeni troops in the rescue of eight hostages being held by an Al Qaeda affiliate in eastern Yemen. The U.S. says the assistance in the operation came at the request of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi of Yemen, who has faced a growing challenge to his authority, especially since a rebel group seized control of the country’s capital last September. Nabeel Khoury , a senior fellow of Middle East and national security at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, joins us to talk about the raid and the continuing political unrest in Yemen.
