Haitian President Michel Martelly, known for declaring that Haiti is “open for business,” is now forging a trade relationship with Vietnam. Last Monday, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Haitian Minister of Economy and Finance Wilson Laleau signed a framework agreement in Hanoi. The agreement came just months after Haiti’s Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe visited Vietnamese prime minister and economic officers to discuss increased cooperation between the countries.
