Greetings!

It is highly likely that you have stumbled onto this particular blog post while in hot pursuit of tickets to a live taping of the country’s most popular public radio news quiz.  If so, I hope the information below answers all your questions (because I’m terrible with phone calls).  I will caution you, however - if you do not take the time to read the FAQ Quiz and then ask a question already answered, I will return your lack of intellectual rigor with sarcasm (I can’t help it.).

NOTE:  I can tell if you decided to simply NOT read this.  Your questions expose you.

And now for the FAQ Quiz!

1.  When are tapings?

A.  Thursday nights.  Doors open at 7:00PM; taping begins at 7:30PM and lasts until app. 9:30PM.
B.  Twilight (but with no sexy vampire boyfriend)
C.  Saturday, twice, making sure we do EXACTLY the same show both times.
D.  These were taped YEARS ago and, remarkably, still reference current news proving that, like a broken clock, history is correct exactly twice.

ANSWER:
A.  Thursday nights.  Doors open at 7:00PM; taping begins at 7:30PM and lasts until app. 9:30PM.

2.  When do tickets go on sale?

A.  All tickets for all tapings go on sale on April 1.  It’s NUTS!
B.  Six weeks in advance of the taping date, on Fridays at 10:00 a.m.  All tickets to Chicago tapings are $24.75 ($25.00 at the door).
C.  Tickets are actually wrapped around Wonka Bars and only lucky children who overeat (means most American children) have a chance to get them except for very poor children with Jack Albertson playing their Grandpa Joe.
D.  Only one day every one hundred years.

ANSWER:
B.  Six weeks in advance of the taping date, on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. All tickets to Chicago tapings are $24.75 ($25.00 at the door).  Buy them HERE.

3.  The show is sold out on the date I want to come to!!  Is there a waiting list?

A.  Yup.  No guarantees but worth a shot.
B.  Yes.  You have to be in attendance to sign up and it is a ‘first come, first served’ list.
C.  Absolutely!  Sign up starts promptly at 6:00 p.m. on the evening of the taping.
D.  All of the above.

ANSWER:
D.  All of the above.

FACT OR FICTION?

There is no downtown parking affiliated with WWDTM or Chase Bank.

ANSWER:
FACT
.  For directions, click here.  Parking options include the Millennium Park Garage (and a bit of a walk), the SELF Park on Madison just west of the bank, or the street.  The Blue Line stops at the bank, however, and I’d suggest parking near a Blue Line stop out of downtown and grabbing that to the show.

It’s 10:00 a.m. and the tickets aren’t showing up online.  Your system is broken!

ANSWER:
FICTION
.  Don’t go online before 10:00 a.m.  Our system has a very clingy cookie and the only way to refresh it is to either:

  • Refresh your browser
  • Close out your browser and restart it.
  • Use a different browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.) OR
  • Get your next door neighbor to buy you tickets.

“SOLD OUT” means that you have some tickets left for the really needy, right?

ANSWER:
FICTION.
“Sold Out” means there are no more seats available to sell.  Period.  End of story.

Fun, huh?

Other things to tuck into your brain pan:

  • There are no refunds or exchanges for purchased tickets.  Seriously.  You bought it, you bought it.
  • CHASE BANK is located at 10 S. Dearborn.  Check-in for pre-purchased tickets is at 6:30PM on the night of the show.  We are very prompt about that time or people would show up at 3:00 p.m.
  • The auditorium has 522 seats and by 7:00 p.m. there will be app. 400 people in line.  And seats are ‘first come, first served.’
  • There is no age limit for audience members although we like to think there is an IQ limit.
