Nine people have accused guards of beating them in an area without security cameras at an Illinois prison, a WBEZ investigation found.

For years, allegations of abuse in an area without security cameras at Western Illinois Correctional Center went ignored, according to a WBEZ investigation. Now, lawmakers and advocates are calling for outside oversight of the Illinois Department of Corrections.
