Mayor Lori Lightfoot delivered her first budget address where she laid out her plans to fill the city’s $838 million budget gap with a mix of spending cuts and new revenue.
Chicago’s police union — the Fraternal Order of Police — issued a vote of no confidence in Police Supt. Eddie Johnson after he said he would skip an event featuring President Donald Trump scheduled for Oct. 28.
Meanwhile, the strike of 32,000 Chicago Public Schools teachers and support staff continues as the teachers union and the city failed to reach an agreement at the bargaining table.
