January is International Human Trafficking Month, and today is International Human Trafficking Day. Worldview’s Weekend Passport segment commemorates this issue by highlighting the play “La Ruta”, a collaboration between Steppenwolf Theatre and the Salvation Army’s “Stop it Initiative Against Human Trafficking”. Based on real testimonies, the play dramatizes the trauma from decades of women and girls being disappeared in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, through the stories of female factory workers. Playwright, Isaac Gomez, and Steppenwolf Ensemble Member, Karen Rodriguez, are joined by Elyse Dobney, the Salvation Army’s “STOP-IT” program manager. As always, our global citizen, Nari Safavi, joins us to give you ideas on planning your international weekend!
