Illinois voters saw a referendum on their ballots asking them whether or not they supported legalizing cannabis in the state. A majority of voters cast their support, many seeing legalization as a potential source of much-needed revenue for the state. But skeptics remain concerned that legalizing pot won’t be the golden goose supporters think it is, and that it can court more problems than solutions.
If Illinois were to legalize cannabis, it would become the tenth state in the country to do so, following the likes of California and Colorado. So what lessons can Illinois learn from other states, where recreational marijuana has been legal for years?
