Last week, the Tribune released a slew of questionnaires, answered by candidates for alderman and mayor. One candidate, Willie Wilson, submitted answers that were in some parts nonsensical and riddled with grammar and spelling errors. His campaign has blamed an over-zealous staffer who was just trying to help. But it does raise a question. What does it take to be a mayor of Chicago? Charisma, new ideas, real talk? Or is it fundraising, connections, strong politics? Or should it be a college education? An area of study in civil service or government? A resume heavy with experience in elected office? That leads us to our question today: What qualifications does a candidate need to be a viable candidate for mayor in the City of Chicago?
