Alden Global Capital now has full control of Tribune Publishing, which includes the Chicago Tribune and other major dailies.

In May, Alden Global Capital struck a deal to acquire Tribune Publishing for $633 million. The New York-based hedge fund is now the second-largest newspaper owner in the U.S. and has built a reputation for slashing newsrooms.
