A new mental health emergency unit on Chicago’s Southwest Side is being praised as the first of its kind for the city. It’s located at Holy Cross Hospital in the Marquette Park neighborhood and administrators there say it’s the first comprehensive medical center in the area to specifically to treat patients having a mental health crisis. WBEZ’s Melba Lara talks with Dr. Paul Berkowitz, the chairman of the department of psychiatry at Sinai Health System, which includes Holy Cross.
