In the latest installment in our series What’s That Building? Crain’s Chicago Business residential real estate reporter Dennis Rodkin tells the story of the Bobby Franks house. 

Bobby Franks, as many Chicagoans know, was the 14-year-old boy killed by University of Chicago students Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb back in 1924, a murder that at the time was called the “Crime of the Century.” Since then, the ornate house where the Franks family lived has exchanged hands many times, serving as a private home and a school before standing vacant for the last 25 years.
