When did you first realize your race made you different? That was the question CNN recently posed in a powerful video series “The First Time I Realized I Was Black.” Interviewees were asked to think back to the first moment they remember being treated differently because of the way they looked. 

CNN’s Tawanda Scott Sambou, the producer behind the project, joined the Morning Shift to share the motivation behind the question and the surprising stories shared from well-known figures, like Van Jones, Montel Williams and Michaela Angela Davis.
