Sam Kass is as busy as ever these days. The former Avec cook is still working as the Assistant Chef in the White House, but he’s also a senior policy advisor on healthy food initiatives. Part of that means he’s actively involved in the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign, getting kids to think more about exercise and eating right. It’s also led to some Chicago chefs “adopting” schools and working with them on food and nutrition education.

Kass was in town earlier this week at the National Restaurant Show, and I caught up with him backstage, just as he was about to head back to Washington D.C. We talked about policy, but I also asked him where he likes to eat when he’s back in town.
