In a charity event featuring a great dinner benefitting a great cause, husband and wife team Yoshi and Nobuko Katsumara of Yoshi’s Café will host a fundraiser for the earthquake and tsunami victims of their native Japan at their Lakeview restaurant Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

Calling the event  “return. rebuild. reconnect.,” the culinary duo is planning a spectacular, four-course dinner where all money raised will be matched by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Chicago and immediately contributed to the Red Cross of Japan.

Accompanied by a glass or two of wine or sake, the Japanese-influenced menu includes a Kaiseki-style appetizer of duck liver mousse pate, fresh asparagus wrapped in wagyu beef, sushi and shrimp cocktail. The main course features a sumptuous grilled Loup De Mer snapper served on a bed of sauteed brussel sprouts and grapefruit segments; grilled prime Allen Brothers sirloin steak with red wine mushroom sauce; a vegetarian Japanese bento dinner, all followed by a lemon custard cheese cake with chocolate ganache for dessert.

Guests at the event will also be entertained with live music, a classical Japanese dance performance by Fujima Ryu of Chicago, a brief welcome by the Katsumuras and a silent auction. The dinner is generously co-sponsored by the law firm Masuda Funai.

Donation tickets for the fundraiser are $125 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Yoshi’s Café at 773-248-6160. Yoshi’s Café is located at 3257 N. Halsted St.
