A new study run by the Programme for International Student Assessment at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) shows that American students scored below average in financial literacy. That means, many of our students lack the basic understanding of budgeting, investing, spending less and knowing the purpose of financial documents. With so many young people clueless about financial concepts, many find themselves making bad decisions that haunt them for a lifetime. We talk with City of Chicago Treasurer Stephanie Neely about how we can educate our kids so that they don’t fall between the financial gap.
