Turkey's ruling party—the “Justice and Development Party”, sometimes called the AKP or AK Party—survived the most serious challenge to its rule when the Turkey's constitutional court decided not to ban the government for underming the country's secular system.

Some in the US had been urging the court to ban the AK party. The root of the matter revolves around Turkey's "Zero Problems With Neighbors" foreign policy.
