Art Brings Confidence to Nigerian Girls

Ada Onyejike was the only woman to graduate from her arts school in Nigeria .  Others young women were enrolled, but they dropped out before receiving diplomas. 

Onyejike knew this wasn't mere coincidence and decided to do something about it. She founded the Girl Child Art Foundation eight years ago. It uses the arts to boost the self-esteem of Nigerian young women.

Onyejike is in Chicago as the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Koldyke Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship. She's visiting schools and art institutions in Chicago with a similar mission.
