Chicago Students Help Children in Darfur

SHARE Chicago Students Help Children in Darfur

This Sunday, Chicago public school students will gather in Grant Park to recognize the violence in the Darfur region of Sudan and in their own backyards. The “Silence the Violence” event is being organized by the Chicago chapter of the United Nations Association, as part of Chicago's Immigrant and Refugee Week.

Jerome spoke with Mohammed Abdelrahman, a Sudanese man who helped organize the event. But first, we'll hear from Claudia Jaccarino, the vice president of communications for the Chicago Chapter of the United Nations Association.

Jerome asked her to describe the idea behind "Silence the Violence."
