Global Activism: Bringing Medical Aid to Northern Uganda

Father Sam Okori and Dr. Kevin Hunt talk with Ugandans about their health.

It's Thursday, and time for our Global Activism series.  Each Thursday we hear about an individual who's decided to work to make the world a better place.

Father Sam Okori is a Ugandan priest studying to be a doctor.  He came to the U.S. a few years ago to take pre-med courses at Loyola University in Chicago .

Father Sam sometimes led mass at St. Ita Parish in Edgewater while he lived in Chicago .  It was there that he met Northwestern Memorial hospital faculty member Dr. Kevin Hunt.

Not long after meeting, Dr. Hunt and Father Sam decided to co-found Medical Aid to Northern Uganda , or MANU.

Father Sam told me why he wanted to create an organization like MANU.
