It may be time for the National Basketball Association to consider a name change. More than a fifth of all players were born outside the United States, including some of the league's biggest stars. These guys don't just show up on the NBA's doorstep, swaddled in size XXXL blankets.

Most have been on the league's radar since they were barely old enough to dunk. That's thanks to a global army of basketball gumshoes, scouring the planet for talent. Sam Ahmedu is a foot soldier in that army. Jon Miller of Homelands Productions brings us his story for the Public Radio Exchange.
