Iraq's parliamentary and presidential elections next month will say a lot about the direction the country takes as the US begins to reduce its footprint. So far the process doesn't look pretty, Ahmad Chalibi a man who encouraged the US to invade Iraq is now complaining about US interference in the elections. A Sunni politician disqualified by Chalabi's commission has complained mightily about Iran's growing influence in Iraq.

We'll get some analysis from Anthony Shadid, who is covering the elections as New York Times correspondent in Bagdad. He won a Pulitzer prize for his Iraq reporting in 2004.
