New Year’s Eve is just a day away. For many, it’s an excuse to get highly intoxicated. We’ll use it as opportunity to discuss how and why we drink. In the Mediterranean, people drink throughout much of the day but tend not to get drunk. Russians drink a lot too, but they get drunk, very drunk. We’ll find out what’s behind these differences in our occasional series Here, There, where we examine how other cultures approach universal issues.
