Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, after attending the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) Kate moved to Chicago in 2009 and attended law school at DePaul University.
Prior to joining Chicago Public Media, Kate spent nearly nine years as Labor and Employment Counsel for the Office of the Chief Judge, where she handled a wide variety of matters for the court’s 2,400 employees across 13 collective bargaining units. During this time, she developed a collaborative approach to labor relations, predicated on respect and shared goals. Kate is thrilled to be bringing her experience to Chicago Public Media to support employees and managers responsible for the content that informs and influences the lives of Chicagoans.
Outside of the office, Kate can be found at 6:00am Crossfit class, trying out Chicago’s many fabulous restaurants, working on her goal of reading 100 books per year, and hanging out with her husband and their two rescue cats, Winston & Clementine.
