Yesterday morning saw the release of an important federal nutrition report by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. And for the first time ever the food and nutrition scientists got political, even endorsing a soda tax to cut down on the nation’s sugar habit. The report has sent waves through the food world. Here in the Illinois General Assembly it triggered the immediate reintroduction of a soda tax bill. WBEZ’s food and health reporter Monica Eng gives us details.
