A string of anti-Semitic threats and crimes have some Orthodox Jewish families fearing for their safety in West Rogers Park. Now, residents are hiring off-duty Chicago Police Officers to patrol their neighborhood. But the police department isn’t too happy about it. At a CAPS meeting earlier this week, department officials said the private patrols may give residents a false sense of security.
