We have a long history here in Chicago of taking Irish traditions and making them our own. Now as the city gears up for St. Patrick’s day, the Art Institute is paying homage to our Emerald Isle roots with its new exhibit, Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design: 1690-1840. It contains pieces that are Irish, but have been here in North America. It’s an example of the ties between not just Chicago, but the U.S. and Canada and Ireland. Curator Christopher Monkhouse joins us to tell us more about the exhibit.
