Federal prosecutors this week tried to do the impossible-gag Rod Blagojevich. But they failed at their request to stop him from making comments that Judge James Zagel called backhanded plays for sympathy. Meanwhile, Blago’s lawyers continued their efforts to make our former governor appear to be an innocent bystander in a corrupt public office. Andy Shaw from the Better Government Association has been keeping an eye on the trial for us and he offers a recap of how the two sides of the court have done so far.
