With all of these continuing troubles surrounding the economy, what we all need are reasons to laugh. Well, at least one reason might be coming from an unlikely source. Orchestra music can be beautiful, powerful, emotional — but you probably rarely think of it as humorous, right? Michael Morgan wants to change that perception. He’s guest conducting a concert called Laughter with the Chicago Sinfonietta tonight. He says he wants to bring back humor to the symphonic experience.

Concert:
Tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Symphony Center
Part of the weeks-long Chicago Humanities Festival

The festival will also present a number of our very own personalities and staff, including Alison Cuddy, and our acting program director, Steve Edwards. Our President and CEO, Torey Malatia will host a discussion on laughter and humor Nov. 14.
