Earlier this month, Schaumburg-based Motorola launched a new program for its Android operating system. They want to encourage developers to create applications for some of the company’s smart phones. That spirit also served them in the 1970s, when they sought to revolutionize communication by inventing the cell phone. Chicagoan Marty Cooper, known as the father of the cell phone, was at the core of creating that lifestyle device.
