If your “9 to 5” runs p.m. to a.m., and your job title is “DJ,” it’s fairly safe to say that music is your passion. On Fridays over the past couple of months, we’ve featured members of the DJ scene from Chicago and beyond. And while all of them are deeply connected to their music, today’s guest DJ works round the clock. Jonah Winnick is a prolific composer of music. In addition to his rock band, Begin by Gathering Supplies, he also heads up a weekly online songwriting competition: The PRF Songwriting Challenge. And today, he’s here to talk to us about his work.
