A key to quality health care is a doctor’s skill at noticing red flags, like how drugs interact with secondary illnesses. But there are warning signs that don’t have anything to do with the body – like whether a patient can afford his or her prescription. Those problems are detailed in a study published in the newest issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine. Dr. Saul Weiner, who teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago, led the study. He sits down with WBEZ’s Gabriel Spitzer to explain why he researched this topic.
