Bishop Carlton Pearson was born for the pulpit. He’s part of a long line of Pentecostal preachers, and was the protégé of famed televangelist Oral Roberts. He was a rising star. But when he publicly questioned the tenets of his faith, his course took a turn—down. His repudiation of the concept of Hell caused some to call him a heretic and reject him as a church leader. Bishop Pearson rebuilt his following and now preaches right here in Chicago. And he’s out with a new book about his message. It’s called God is Not a Christian, Nor a Jew, Muslim, Hindu…God Dwells with Us, in Us, Around Us, as Us. Bishop Pearson recently spoke to Richard Steele about his new philosophy.
