Here at the station this week, we’ve been dealt some big personal blows. We said good-bye to our engineer Melanie Palmer’s 4-year-old daughter Taylor, who spent over a year fighting a rare auto-immune disease. And our former colleague Carlos Hernandez Gomez lost his battle with cancer. So we’ve all been looking inward and to one another for coping methods in this time of grief. And while it’s a time-worn process, dealing with death can be unique to the type of loss. Dr. Carl Bell talks more about the grieving process, especially during the loss of a child. Dr. Bell is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago and President of the Community Mental Health Council.
