A jury in Waukegan, Illinois, is scheduled to deliberate this morning on the Juan Rivera trial. It’s Rivera’s third trial. He was convicted twice on the strength of a confession that he signed. But a third trial was ordered when new DNA evidence excluded him as the source of semen taken from the victim’s body, and questions arose over the legitimacy of the confession. WBEZ’s Robert Wildeboer has an update from the Lake County Courthouse.
