Modern-day circus Brilliant Corners gives vaudeville a rock ‘n’ roll update
By Produced by Eight Forty-EightSmall circuses and indie rock acts will come together under the big top in Chicago over the weekend. Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusements, a 3-day festival, was inspired in part by the Vaudeville days of old. It is the brainchild of Mike Reed – the man behind events like Pitchfork Music Festival and the Umbrella Music Festival. He teamed up with El Circo Cheapo Cabaret to put on the show. Eight Forty-Eight recently spoke with Reed and El Circo Cheapo aerialist Laura Lippert – who also works as a producer on Brilliant Corners. Reed gave potential attendees a heads-up on what the show had in store.
The festival runs Friday, September 16th through Sunday, September 18th at Eckhart Park in Chicago.
