From tapestries to teapots, stained glass to silver bowls, the collection of one man is the inspiration behind a new exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago. John Bryan is the former CEO of the Sara Lee Corporation, and a noted philanthropist and art collector. The exhibition Apostles of Beauty: Arts and Crafts from Britain to Chicago features a healthy portion of Bryan’s own items. Eight Forty-Eight contributor Ron Litke recently got Bryan to open up about being an arts patron, his love for the city, and how his affair with Arts and Crafts began.

Exhibition:
Through Jan. 31, 2010
The Art Institute of Chicago
