Three weeks ago, the first Occupy Chicago protests began in the Loop. The protests started as an offshoot of Occupy Wall Street in New York. Members of the movement said that they were dedicated to holding Wall Street and other financial institutions accountable for their role in the current economic situation.

And the movement continued to grow – “Occupy” protests sprouted up across the country, from Boston to Seattle. Locally, members of Occupy teamed up with organizations like Take Back Chicago to stage marches downtown. Tuesday night 21 members of the unified protest group were arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

But Eight Forty-Eight wondered about their specific mission and where the movement intended to go.
