For 44 years, Edna Stewart was a culinary legend in Chicago. She dished out delicious soul food from her restaurant at Kedzie and Madison. And Edna was just as interested in lifting her community, as she was in filling their stomachs. She passed away recently at the age of 72. NPR’s Susan Stamberg profiled Edna and her restaurant back in 1996. I caught up with her to reminisce and hear how she first learned bout the woman who claimed to have the ‘best biscuits in the world’.
