Richard Pegue died last week at the age of 65. Pegue had a 40 year run as a radio personality, songwriter, music and business marketer. When friends and family gather today for his memorial mass at Apostolic Church of God on Chicago’s South Side, they’ll recall his encyclopedic knowledge of black music and his limitless creativity. In 1995, Richard helped bring to the South Side a median strip to stop drivers from crossing into oncoming traffic. Richard Pegue trumpeted the cause from his radio show on WVON.
