If you happened to show up at last night’s Illinois gubernatorial debate at Chicago State University you might have thought the two-party system was dead and gone. You’d be wrong, of course – but you could be forgiven for wondering where the Democrats and Republicans were. The debate featured five candidates: Two independents, plus one each from the Constitution, Green and Libertarian parties. Republican Bill Brady and Democrat Pat Quinn were no-shows. WBEZ’s political reporter Sam Hudzik chats about the debate and the long-shot candidates who participated.
