Sports aren’t the only arena where Illinois is hoping to win big. Today, the state takes a second shot at winning some of the billions of federal dollars set aside for education. The money is part of President Obama’s program Race to the Top. You may remember that earlier this year our first application was a flop - despite some pretty high hopes we’d win money our first time out. We did come close - ranking 5th out of the 40 states that applied along with the District of Columbia. So will our application this time around get us closer to all that green? To find out we turn to the man in charge—Illinois’ State Superintendent of Education, Mr. Christopher Koch.
