The late Chicago writer Nelson Algren would be 100 later this month. Chicago photographer Art Shay formed a friendship with Algren, and spent the next decade and a half documenting Algren’s life and his city. Art Shay and local filmmaker Michael Caplan—who’s working on a documentary Algren—share details of Algren’s life.
